When most people think of interesting facts about chocolate they think about where chocolate comes from. They have no idea that there are so many more facts about chocolate than just that.

Did you know that the largest chocolate bar ever made is actually recorded in the Guinness World Book of Records? The bar topped the scales at 5,026 pounds.

The chocolate bar was produced in Turin Italyin March 2000, by the Elah-Dufour United Food Companies. Can you believe that? It would take an army of people about a year to eat all of that chocolate.  

Do you know that your body makes an excellent, melting pot for chocolate? Chocolate melts at 93 degrees Fahrenheit. Since our bodies normal temperatures are 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit the minute chocolate touches any point on our body it will start to melt. That is the main reason why chocolate melts in your mouth.

The more interesting facts about chocolate I learn the more interested I become. An easy fact to remember is that chocolate is the most popular flavor out of them all, especially when used on chocolate covered strawberry recipe.

It even beats out vanilla.

For those of us chocolate lovers, that is not a hard fact to understand.   One of the most interesting facts about chocolate is that it makes you feel good. Can you believe that one? When I found this out I had to tell my therapist.

Instead of prescribing happy pills, they should just hand out chocolate bars, or chocolate chip cookies. He did not really find that terribly funny.

However, chocolate is known to contain the chemical phenylethylamine. This chemical in addition to the fat, sugar and caffeine in chocolate has been proven to release serotonin and endorphins in the brain. Both of these chemicals are known as the happy chemicals. They are able to change your mood, and make you happy.

As crazy as it sounds, everyone knows that when ever I am in a bad mood, just hand me a chocolate bar and all will be right in my world.  Chocolate is just one of those things that most people can not live without.

It makes them happy, melts in your mouth, and has a few health benefits. With all of these positive attributes how can you go wrong, eating chocolate?

My love for chocolate is considered to among the highest in my family. There is not much I would not do to have a piece of chocolate. If the piece of chocolate is one of the high end brands, we are all in trouble.

Everyone jokes that I would sell out my mother for a piece of chocolate. It has become such a running joke that I decided to write a coffee table book about my favorite piece of food.

When I started doing the research, I thought it would be some light reading, a few laughs and a quick anecdote here and there. Instead, I came upon some real interesting facts about chocolate. Things I never know where associated with chocolate.

This is especially true when it came to the health benefits. Chocolate is actually good for you.  During my research one of the most interesting facts about chocolate that I learned, was how to choose the best tasting chocolate bar out of an entire box of chocolates.

When choosing a chocolate bar you need to make sure the bar smells like chocolate. While this seems obvious, you would be surprised by how many chocolate bars do not smell like chocolate.

After you do the smell test, you need grab the corners of the bar and break off a piece. The piece should break off cleanly with very few crumbs. If, the chocolate bar passes these tests than it should be rich and creamy. It will definitely melt in your mouth.

You will be so excited about your choice you will not be tempted to go back for seconds.  My favorite interesting facts about chocolate is that it has been reported to be has healthy attributes.

Of course every time, I reach for a chocolate bar that is what I tell myself. I am eating chocolate for my health. Chocolate has been reported to have a good amount of antioxidants, and will help to produce breast milk in women.

Antioxidants are known have certain health benefits like lowering your cholesterol levels, it will help your heart and can help reduce your chances of getting cancer.

Now, that I am armed with information like this how can I not continue to eat chocolate on a daily basis.
